Trike Bicycle

Trike BicycleWould you recommend an adult trike or bike to a disabled person?

I'm trying to decide whether to buy an adult tricycle or bicycle. I have rheumatoid arthritis, am not 100% physically fit (but that's why I want the bike!) Because of chronic pain. YOUR EXPERIENCES which of these would be more logical for a person in this situation? Does anyone know how to do a trike on the speed and hills or should an extra effort to climb a hill on a tricycle?

Enjoy all the knowledge you can do for me!

Much will depend on the severity of arthritis. If it affects your mobility to the point were your balance is compromised then there is a strong enough case for a tricycle.

The pain may limit the power that you can turn off, so that even a slight hill may give some problems. If you are able to get on and off easily there is no pretense in walking. You need to improve the joints free and your fitness improves.

A tricycle will be slower, but it may be oriented considerably lower. While it will take more time to go up a hill, a tricycle can be mounted very slowly, without fear of losing balance.

Generally, people can climb up a steeper hill (facing down) on a tricycle bike. The bike will be faster if the rider can maintain a speed sufficient to keep the balance.

If you think you can handle the bike, so it's probably the way forward, since you will improve if you stick to it. You know the extent of your disability so that it will be much easier for you to take the decision.

Good luck and good bike.

Although it pains me to say!

Glenn gave a sensible answer, I agree with his observations on this issue.

Good luck.
