Trekking Bicycle

Trekking BicycleIs it acceptable to replace a bicycle wheel with a wheel of another type of bike?

I have a Trek bike, which needs a new tire (rim and all). I want to spend as little money as possible. Do I just measure the diameter and the width center and just go for a bike w / the same size wheel from a thrift store and put this to herself?

At the rim you will see measures such as "622 x 18" print. On my Trek bike, it is right next to where it says Bontrager. Be sure to find a new wheel with the same number. The only thing ill of a thrift store, wheel hub that is, the middle section of the wheel forks join, may not be in good shape. If you can put the hub of your old bike in the new wheel, you'd better. Another thing, having two completely different tires is not really a good idea. Tires themselves are really cheap, so if you can, try a new wheel, and get a replacement tire that matches the back of a brand new, or replace both at the same time.

Well, yes. If it fits, yes. Have at it.

Yes, it works like a champ. As you do, you need a wheel with height and width of the rim same hub. For dimensions of the rim, or search the actual dimensions of the rim, as suggested anomaly 17 or find a bike with tires the same size. Almost all road bikes have the same width as the hub of most mountain bikes only. You will also need to be sure that your bike has quick release wheels, you find a bike with quick release wheels.

When buying a bike thrift store, you must check the following:

1. Spin the wheel and watch the gap between the brake pad and the rim. If the wheel is true, the gap will narrow and widen as the tire rotates. 1 / 8 inch oscillation is probably OK. You do not want a wheel wobble or more you will make the bike shop to rectify.

2. Make sure the wheel spins freely. If there is a lot of drag, the bearings are probably shot or at least need lubrication.

3. Grasp the tire and see if the wheel side to side play. If there is a side to side play, the bearings may be shot or service needs at least.

4. If you buy a rear wheel, you must be sure that the wheel has the same number of gears in the cassette. If not, you'll have to take the bike shop to your old tape put on the new wheel, or change the handles.

BTW - A new wheel is not really expensive! You can buy a high quality, very helpful new wheel for between $ 150-200.

Hope this helps.

Yes, you can use another brand, just make sure it is the right size.
