How can I ensure the safe transportation of poles in the pole vault on a grid SUV Bike?

Wrap them in a tarp, make sure the ends are wrapped and secured, then tie a rope around the poles in the grommets of the tarp and the rack. A truck is preferable, if possible, but if you make sure the poles will not come out of the sheet, it should be OK.
BTW: make sure there is an orange flag on the end.
