What size bike should I do for cross country skiing and downhill??? The bike is the Specialized Enduro? I'm 6'3 and pretty long arms and legs. Several people told me to get the XL but is it too big? I set up a test enduro xl 07 specialty bicycle and it feels about right. I think I can turn on the high. I ride in the mountains, then down the laces, roots, clifff trails, etc. .. Is the great bikek better for trails because of tight wheel base and lower center of gravity or the XL fit better and more important?
In addition, the torso body armor and full face helmet carbon is good? Something that is not too hot for carbon full face helmet and chest armor.
I am 5'-11 "and I'm usually comfortable on large frames mountain biking. That said, I got a few mediums comfortable. Personally, I felt as if I am cycling more than on top of it. (If this makes sense.)
I would not worry about the performance of a large vs. XL based on frame geometry and proportions. The differences in performance will be quite minimal. The most important thing is that you are comfortable riding the bike. From personal experience, I can tell you there is nothing worse than a bike in bad shape.
The best advice is to mount both a large and XL and see what feels best given the type of driving you want to do. In riding, I do not want to take a ride around the parking lot 10 minutes bike shop. Take a ride on every good piece of time and see what works best on the trails you ride.
Hope this helps.
It all comes down to what you feel comfortable. If you feel great on a large frame to try another brand or model framework.
I'm the same size as you. I prefer slightly smaller than executives how great recommendations.
While the length of the upper tube is enough to make you feel at ease and stretch, you should be sweet. Often the difference of the largest and next largest top tube frame is minimal.
You really need to dial in your points of contact. I have a Moots relaxed position, a handful of stems, and a set of super wide DH bars that I take with me when I go shopping.
Nothing worse than having a platform that is too large. Not too bad they treat, they just look tough!
One thing I noticed in your question is that you tried an XL. You said it looks OK and you are wondering about the L. What you really need to do is to try the size L to be sure. I do not know why you have not done that. If they are not manufactured or in stock when they ask you to have a try.
Well as everyone says, try the large and see if you like. As for checking the proper equipment to 661 for bulletproof vests. A good helmet is the specialized deviant. It is not carbon, but its light almost like a helmet-type regular skateboard. It was just as well as vents XC helmet.
The best thing to do is go to a bike shop and get business. There are many factors to consider, be looking for a bike for XC and DH you do not want a bike you are lying on or feel. Next see if the bike shop has demo rides, except maybe find someone with this bike and take it for a test ride. Riding a bike around a Mtn parking lot is not the best way to know what it feels like a bike.
My son (6'2 ") races a L, XL by trying it never felt like it was part of the bike as he did on the L (on several tracks that are extremely close He went shopping a Mr.)
For gear 661, Fox and Troy Lee are great products.
