Is it possible to use mountain bike pedals Shimano SPD style on a road bike rather than SPD-SL style pedals? I try to update automatic Shimano SPD pedals on my road bike and I'm pretty stuck as regards the right to get!?
All pedals specific road I saw (SPD-SL style) use a different mechanism latch on mountain bike pedals (like the M520), but I much prefer the mountain bike shoes have a small cleat and are much easier to walk in! I was just wondering if it is possible to use a style MTB SPD pedals on a road bike or pedals as theA520 are a sort of compromise between the two?
There is no pedal police. You can put the pedals on your road bike you want. Many people like the SPD cleat on road bikes because they can use the same shoes for road or mountain biking. On the road style SPD cleats will not make you waddle like a duck as the SPD-SL or Look cleats style. The only negative thing I've heard of SPD style cleats on the road is that they have a small contact patch that can cause discomfort in long rides.

The cyclists have done this for years. I Speedplay Frog pedals and they worked like a champ. Personally, I love the beach added float Speedplay pedals that give you. The only problem is that the spikes do not stick a bit so they are noisy on concrete and you would not want to wear them on wood floors.
Ride a road bike, wearing MTB shoes. To make matters more confusing, most shoes are compatible with a range of cleats / pedal combos.
Your tab should match the pedal. Most shoes will work with most pedals. I just looked for more space around the toes because of a foot injury.
There are many people who use SPD pedals on their road bike. It is much easier to walk with the clip back. I use the PD-M520 pedals on my mountain bike and road so that I can use the same shoes.
Yes it is. I use a Crank Bros. Candy pedals on my road bike and of course I have seen him several times since the son are all 9 / 16 "on all the pedals anyway you'll be fine. I recommend the M520 on A for the simple reason that you will not have to dig with him to get otherwise for any works perfectly and will save you a weight too, but not much. You can get M for about the same price if you shop. I prefer a 4-sided entry and that is why I chose BC over Shimano, but use what you like.
