Powder Coat Bicycle Frame

How much powder coat a frame old bike? Im going to restore my old beach cruiser and give to my wife as a gift ... im curious to know if I have to work spray painting or powder Nice. advice? Thank you!

I think we can coat is very durable and actually very good idea. I did the same thing with my bike several years ago. The cost was under $ 80 at the time.

I do not powder. There are so many cool colors now. I do Aero bar and bottle cages chrome and blue above it, and they look like chrome blue. Very cool. Hard to say how much it will cost. Look in the yellow pages of your city and call a store, I am sure they will say.

My LBS (local bike shop) painted my 18 GT Outpost Trail. It looks wonderful. First, they take the bike completely apart, the artist strips the paint, sand the bumps and knocks. In some cases, they should construct deep scratches. My body had no teeth, but no crashes, just a few scratches.

I chose plain paint, no logos, but could have added a custom sticker with my name.

I like the look of a paint job more than powdercoat. Sometimes you can make your bike for free or at very low prices to car repair. It is easier for them to apply paint to get rid of that properly, so they often use a pot for cheap.

If you go the route powder coating, and if you have an aluminum frame, make sure you pick a place that knows aluminum, preferably a workshop of the aircraft. The quenching of aluminum is very accurate and there are all sorts of horror stories about executives who buckled when runners were on them the powder coating process after. If you have a steel frame, you have nothing to fear. There are some that will not powdercoaters bike frame because of it, to check and make sure they can do it properly.

The only thing that the other (with either method) is that you want to make sure they protect the threaded area. Rubber stoppers in the bottom bracket, screws and bolts in other places. If they do not, you'll probably need to take the frame into a bike store that has the correct cutting and facing tools suite.
