I want to plan a trip cross-country skiing on a dual sport, off road bike. Im 5'8, this bike would be best for me? I'll have the bike loaded with all my camping equipment and necessities, clothing, food, etc.. All answers are appreciated.
A bike with front suspension and wide tires with tread medium term. Too heavy tread surface will be paved riding slow and uncomfortable. In fact, a hybrid would work fine for a mixture of on-off road touring as long as you do not plan on things much more technical.
In fact, I think you're the average height of a professional cyclist, so about any bike you should. And do not adjust the seats? For a great road bike, I recommend a Fuji or a Trek. For a mountain bike, I think that a giant is best for your situation. Good luck.
Visit the local bike shop and look at the hybrid, comfort, comfort mountain bike. You do not want front suspension if at all. You want to be able to attach panniers to the bike. You want a good quality bicycle for you, not a bike shop. You want a universal tread on the tire spikes just dont cut it on the road and bike trails hard packed. Tell the store owner what you want and they can help you.
