Mountain Bike Prices

I was watching a brand new mountain bike 2009 specialized sells MSRP. ($ 770) Has anyone had experience get a new bike for less than MSRP? These bike shops do not seem to want to move! I guess it is not like buying a car ..?? All pointers to get a lower price? Thank you ...

Most stores will sell a bike for less than the MSRP ... You're limited on what you can do because the Trek bikes are sold through resellers Trek.
I recently went to a performance bike shop and they had a 2008 Fuji Newest 4.0, which was actually higher than the MSRP, and it is one year!

If you were on the market for a bike more expensive, say over $ 3K, a discount would be understandable. But a $ 800 bike is not enough profit in it to rationalize a discount.
