Kevlar Bicycle Tires

Kevlar Bicycle TiresAre there bicycle tires kevlar for a "27 1" 1 / 4 "wheels?

If so, who makes or where can I buy?

I have a speed of ten years which has 27 Schwinn '1 '1 / 4 "wheels. Unfortunately, the tire rim size that are too thin to withstand the uneven pavement and potholes, debris and you will find in the streets of Detroit.

I try to avoid buying a new motorcycle. Is there anything you can suggest?

I looked in:

* Make a change to 700C rims so I have a better choice of tires more difficult to choose
* Research in tubeless tires
* Avoiding road hazards (harder than it sounds ...)

Thank you!

Yes ..... not easy to find in stores, but any store can order them for you. I was really happy with the tires Panaracer Pasel .... They come in a folding bead with Kevlar belt and are not expensive. Specialized (Armadillo) and Continental also make some decent ones, and both Nashbar and Performance share of cheapies with a Kevlar belt (or they used to ... I have not looked in the past year or so ). If you find the IRC tires, you could have problems with them, depending on your rim. They tend to be too loose and can slip off the rim. Ask your local store if you can browse through their catalog distributor and you'll probably find a few options.

I went to the 27 "-700c road renovation, a couple of times myself ..... it is generally not possible without major chassis adjustment and replacement fork (and painting later), or at least one pair of very long reach brakes, if they will work. At one point, Sheldon Brown used to offer a home drop-bolt hangers-on that, but he left them with some time.

Unless you want to really keep the old bike, it may be cheaper and easier to just buy a more used, or even a road bike used modern .... you can often find them for $ 200 - $ 400 and there are some very nice rides there.

I keep an old British Falcon flight ticket as long as I can get decent 27 "tires like the Panaracer, I will continue to do so. I just turned into a singlespeed, and it has received a lot of life in it. Old rawk bike: o)

First your wheels are 27 x 1 1 / 4 is the tire. As you know 27 "tires are hard to find now. I do not know so Kevlar 27" tires. Tire liners are available and perhaps you can use.

Hello

Ugh, Schwinn and their attempt to wheel sizes exclusive. What a PITA!

The problem with switching the rims / wheels is that your bike rim brakes and you may have difficulty going to a 700c wheel. The brakes are not aligned with the braking surface of the wheel, at least that was the problem I had with my fathers Schwinn Mirada hybrid. He used 26x 1 1 / 2 "tires .... apparently different from 26x 1.5 in the minds of some engineers hare brain.

I did however find tires in the rafters of an old Schwinn dealer that match. They were 650B tires. Not easy to assemble, but they mount. The dealer actually had a handwritten label on the tires that said: "Mirada Tires" because apparently they only fit and 2 bike models on the other.

Honestly, if you do not find a set of tires that match your rims, you can buy a used bike from Craigslist. Make an exchange of wheels can not work due to interface problems brake. Tubeless Conversion Kit with Stan's no tubes cost about as much quality bikes Bike Shop used with standard components.

You can convert ghetto tubeless, but the conversion is not completely intuitive and it will not work with all the tires.
