Hitch Bike Carrier

We seek a hitch type bike rack for our SUVs, but I was curious whether the carrier would interfere with the backup sensors when the vehicle is in reverse. Thank you for your time.

Wow this is a good question. If no one who has your type of SUV you answer from experience, it is better to ask your merchant service. If they can not call customer support for the manufacturer.

If you can try to support a local bike shop, slide into your hitch, hang a couple of bikes and save and see what the sensors.

I do not think you have the slightest problem. You should be able to disable the sensor if it does not interfere. It is only activated in the reverse direction and would be useless if you were towing anything anyway. The bicycles will reduce your certificate to the rear and according to the backup sensor could find yourself breaking your bike against something.
