Where can I find a good mountain bike trails in Atlanta / Georgia? Pete, you do not say what part of the city where you are, but I'll give you some baseline information. The best overall, and probably the most popular system of trails in the city, is Hedges Creek in the township. Take 75 North to 575 to exit 11, Sixes Road. Go left up the ramp and trailheads will be on your left, less than a mile down. Well marked with signs. Crowded on weekends but not during the week.
There are more new tracks from beginner oriented a few miles up 140 on the campus of Reinhardt College. If you are on the east side, try the Yellow River near Stone Mountain. Closer to the city of Big Creek in Roswell, but one track beginner.

Good road.
