Todt not surprised by the dominance McLaren Jean Todt, the boss of Ferrari was not surprised by the dominance of McLaren Grand Prix this weekend Monaco.
McLaren's Fernando Alonso from Spain smoothly, won the race while rookie Lewis Hamilton is ranked 2nd in Great Britain, also McLaren.
Meanwhile, Ferrari's Brazilian Felipe Massa was more than a minute and 3rd place. Finn Kimi Raikkonen, another Ferrari driver, only managed to drive his way to eighth place. This is due to some problems in qualifying his departure on 16.
McLaren, Ron Dennis, head of the team said that its pilots could have gone faster, but they opted to protect their respective positions. He made despite the warmth of their victory.
However, Jean Todt has not sour grapes of defeat. He humbly said that from the beginning, he knew McLaren were very strong and during the Monaco Grand Prix, they were much stronger. There was therefore no surprise that their team will receive their supremacy. The Ferrari team has welcomed the McLaren team and hope to give a best lap remaining in the championship.
Todt added that Felipe was very close to qualification. Felipe has completed less than a tenth behind Hamilton. He added that the other Ferrari driver, Kimi had a problem qualifying he was unable to pass. Then he found himself in 16th place.
Todt admitted that McLaren was indeed the fastest and there is no question about it.
He highlighted the problems caused by slow traffic rising faster cars on the tight twisting circuit when he was asked to explain the vast expanse between McLaren and his team in Monte Carlo. He said that Felipe was right behind Hamilton at the first pit stop. Then they decided to put on softer tires. But others stayed on the harder. Then Felipe took about five laps to pass a car. Unfortunately, he lost 15 seconds in five rounds.
Todt said that with this incident, they have already planned to be Felipe in 3rd place, unless the two others face a difficulty.
Raikkonen has also been severely affected by traffic. It allowed him to start his advantage in speed. Accordingly, it quickly moved the field. His being left in 8th place 15 points behind Hamilton and Alonso.
He said he really knew he would face an uphill battle. He had a good start that he quickly moved to the location 12. But from there, he was always in traffic making it difficult for him to seize a chance to take over. He said he never had a clear track. It was his strategy worked.
However, it is hopeful that we would not give up because it will do even better in the next series.
