They are trying to prevent youth dirt bikes ..? This was posted on our site district, the letter is from Greg Robinson, owner of Unadilla ...
Good afternoon ... forget the good that our country has descended into madness.
I spent almost all day on two conference calls with respect to the subject line above, and I must say I'm more concerned about the fate of our sport and industry. Not to mention our local communities for the loss of jobs and $ $ that our industry makes each year. It is certainly say .. Believe me.
As of yesterday, all suppliers have had to withdraw from sale all minicircle rejuvenated and ATVs for less than 13 years ... under this ordinance because of the lead content of some plastics and metals from the CPSC. As of yesterday, the dealer or private individual can not provide parts or services to those affected machines, in which it is possible that these parts may contain lead ... no oil changes, plastics, levers, gearboxes, motors, etc., etc.. goggles, helmets, clothing, knee .. and so on. You may think this is just for new machines, but it is for all new and used.
The CPSC also found that the machines under 85cc are considered toxic to the health of young children.
As spare parts yesterday, Honda has released its system of service of these machines to be certified lead ... it takes 400 days. KTM, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha and do the same thing. If you have a machine 1,2,3 years, you will not be able to buy most parts for it very soon.
Yamaha is sending restrictions on its dealers that a 85cc bike can be sold, and should only be used by a person over the age of 13.
Now the fun part for us as a race promoter.
Because manufacturers are now issuing these guidelines, we as developers can not allow a person younger than 13 years to participate for two reasons.
We allow someone to participate in a sanctioned event on a vehicle that was determined by the manufacturer and the CPSC is dangerous for this age level.
We allow someone to participate in a sanctioned event on a vehicle that has determined the CPSC is a toxic substance.
If you think I'm kidding, consider the following
MX Sports is planning to remove the categories of youth program Loretta Lynn's, GNCC, ATV ... and nationals, we run all three of these series and I can tell you that these classes represent more than one third of our entries and more than half of our presence.
WADA will be forced to ban people under 13 of any pro or amateur competition AMA because of legal consequences. The same principle applies to local districts and agencies of punishment, that insurance will not be available to cover this risk.
The cornerstone of our sport are these children .. if they can not participate, they will find something else to do, and we do not find them. They will not race, watch, or buy products. That means mom, dad and more brothers / sisters will not here either.
Unadilla would probably not participate in any form of amateur racing .. with only half or fewer entries left, it would not be financially feasible.
Do I have your attention yet?
There are two efforts currently underway to obtain a temporary stay granted by the CPSC to "off-road vehicles." The MIC (Motorcycle Industry Council) and the Missouri State House Rep. Mike Sense (# 4 line in the first Govt MO) are both developing the grass roots letter campaign through websites to build a groundswell Support for this stay. Keep in mind this is only temporary, and unless a federal injunction or laws are made, it does not go far.
There are many opinions circulating on this subject by saying that our way of thinking is wrong and that only the sale of new units is affected ... If this is the case, why are helmets, goggles, stealth.
