Why cyclists wear glasses, even when they are on the velodrome?

Try riding 30 + mph without some sort of eye protection. Not pleasant.

Some use a visor and it gives them a smoother profile and more aerodynamic. Many races are won by tenths or hundredths of a second, so all they can do to be more aerodynamic aid.

Another reason ... I can attest to the need to wear glasses bike if you wear contact lenses .. It deflects the wind and keeps your contacts from drying out.

Another aspect is the sponsorship deals. Some cyclists have deals where they are part of a sponsorship contract. also inside there is often a reflection of the wooden track and a lightly tinted lenses can help you to see.
