Closing catalogs / websites? im building a trail and a frame ($ 350-Trek EX8 ebay!) and Im wondering if anyone knows of catalogs or closure of sites that sell parts.
I have been using nashbar jensonusa bike, but I'm looking for others.
Jenson some build large kits. Check www.blueskycycling.com (great people and great deals), www.pricepoint.com (Closeouts and combo deals galore), www.greenfishsports.com (free shipping on $ 50 and Closeouts), and www.cambriabike. com other operations. I have had experiences with all the big ones. It is best to call ahead to make sure that things really have in stock, but most are good about that (be very careful and Cambria PricePoint but ..... first call). Other limited stock-but-great-shops and www.webcyclery.com www.aebike.com
Oh ..... also check www.wheelworld.com
If you're downhill, freeride, or urban stuff, please check www.ride-this.com
Be sure to check with your local store, too. Many times, they have access to buy the same features as online retailers and they may be willing to match prices (sometimes even give you a better price). I try to buy locally, but certain actions are too good to pass up. I ordered from almost all these sites but really I mentioned prefer to deal with my favorite LBS.
Some other online shops that are there but I'm not crazy about: www.speedgoat.com, www.beyondbikes.com, www.airbomb.com, www.universalcycles.com. Nashbar is a great place, great offers, but they leave a lot in high-end pieces. I do not support the performance, and once they have bought at Nashbar a few years ago, the two companies has changed for the worse in my opinion. In addition, you should keep an eye on the cycling goods www.sierratradingpost.com ..... they have special offers from time to time.
Urban gave you a good answer. I should add that EBay is truly a great place to pick up parts as well. I bought a road bike in perfect condition on Ebay. Bored last winter, I have updated many parts to this. I bought some used parts (when new) at great discounts. All parts were I am in great shape.
The only problem I had was that I'm addicted to it for a while and ended with 5 sets of wheels!
