Why not BMX Street / Dirt bikes use certain parts of mountain biking? For many years, many BMXers demanded lighter bikes.
For example, a way to make the street BMX dirt bikes / lighter would be to use hooks down bike, cranks, seatpost aluminum. These parts are still solid, but lighter than the parts, bmx, mtb cranks and BB in particular.
If BMX bikes used some of these pieces, it would be easier to go into a store and get parts, if several parts used ATV parts.
Why manufacturers are not doing?
I think BMX is a lot more emphasis on strength, simplicity and low maintenance. ATV parts are lighter, but they are also too complicated and require constant maintenance and adjustment.
Remember that cranks have a wider scope and are designed to withstand more than double the stress in BMX.
Exactly, BMX have no suspension. But you are right too ... I mean, by the way BMX is definitely lighter but also lower. So I think the majority of BMX riders need reliable, affordable pieces. Most guys do not like BMX money MTBers do for their walks. It actually there I recently returned from a BMX bike lol. This is why titanium is Grim Reaper had never been in the world of BMX. Waaay too expensive and probably isn't nearly as strong as a solid chromoly frame w / o the holes in the BB and seat tube and all
for some reason, the first half of my answer has not been posted ... wtf???
Anyway, I said that Joby is absolutely right. In addition, BMX bikes do not use suspension tuning. I mean, you do not see guys ripping stars through hard lessons or starting DH crashed off rock formations in the desert. The suspension absorbs much stress as cranks and BB and all so they are able to run lighter and smaller.
