What is the best bike trunk rack on the market to fix the bike and safety? My husband really wants a bike rack for a good mountain bike. I have no idea what kind to do it, but that he now has a snap and he does not like it at all. I need one that is safer to take the bike (only two at a time) in place and provides flight safety. Please help!
I have a Saris Bones II and it works pretty well. I run a cable through the center of it and lock it inside my trunk. I can lock the bike on the wire if I leave it unattended. They come with a lifetime warranty.

If you want the security of roof bars, locking and they are much more stable than a rack trunk. The last thing you want is a $ 1000 + bike falling off the car at 75 mph and smashed on the highway. I have a Yakima roof rack and it does very well, the bikes are safe even on bumpy dirt roads. Thule is another good brand. You can save a lot of money getting the basic grid on ebay and then buy the specific model of car goes up in a local store.
Everyone I know who has a bike rack Saris trunk, he loves.
safe door are not very security, unless you can somehow good lock bikes to the car. It is increasingly difficult these days that cars have components of more plastic. This is one reason I left the trunk door and got a rack instead of driving. If protection against theft is important, you should consider a grid hitch for your husband. It's also better for motorcycles and cars.

Thule and Yakima are upscale, they are all different types to fit every car, truck or RV.
