Bike Patches

There are small tubes about 2 inches long and I see no use for them, are delivered with the bike repair kit, the kit there are patches, glue, and metal sander the tubes, they are for?

They are for the old "Dunlop" valve. You rarely see these types of valves on the bike today in the UK but I think they are still very popular in some other countries. The valve unit is fully removable and rubber tubes fit over the inside of the valve.
