He works on approx 9000 GBP when the bike costs only 8500 GBP. Does this mean I have to pay 8,500 pounds sterling for the bike and 9000 GBP for its annual insurance?

Firstly we need more information that sounds very expensive but if it's your first bike, and you have no malus (experience) with powerful bike, it is not uncommon to pay more than the cost of the vehicle which is a play, as they will never pay the full amount of the bike "new price in a claim anyway ... I'd say go around or if you are new attempt to buy more bbike used and implemented certain claims not to start
