How do I hang my mountain bike from my garage ceiling with hooks? Every time I try to install the brackets, they strip right in the ceiling. I am trying to find a type of ceiling amount to live in, but since I'm up two hooks for each bike (I'm trying to fit two bikes), I'm not sure how to do that. Please let me know if you have experienced this and solved. I greatly appreciate the help.
Well it seems that you put the hooks in the ceiling drywall, Am I right? If so there are multiple things to ensure things plasterboard in any hardware store, anchors and others. Now depending on the thickness of the drywall, this too can not work, then you'll need a stud finder, or find the floor joists or rafters depending on what is above your garage, find them. Then get a 2x4 should be more than enough, you can halve or length of each outer edge of your joists and screw the two pieces ever know how far into the joist. then put your hook in the 2x4. hope I have explained it enough that you get what I say and it helps.
I've never tried. But if you do not find the solution, why not seek professional help. I do not think it will cost a lot.

It is not hard, you're right, you just have to find a stud. Typically they are 16 inches. If you can get in the attic, you can confirm. Find a post and you just measuring the other.
You can find a stud in stores like Walmart or HomeDepot. But as you learned that you have to find a stud. The devices are cheap and easy to use.

If you do not have a stud finder, you can buy one. They are super handy and very heavy objects suspended on your wall too. They are money well spent and some of them have now incorporated a laser level with them.
I tried to locate studs in my garage by tapping and it does not work too well. Good luck.
You screw the hooks in the ceiling beams, and not just the drywall. Get a stud finder and hang them correctly.
