What shoes for triathlon? Hello, I'm entering my first tri a couple of weeks. it is over short distances and I am ready fitness wise. I have SPD shoes for my bike and running shoes for running, but would it be preferable to running shoes on the cycle and use footrests with straps rather than spending time changing shoes during the transition cycle run? Thank you in advance
Honestly, the small amount of time you lose in the transition change of shoes is made easy with the help of specific cycling shoes during the trip. You can enter elastic laces for your running shoes, which shave some time off the transition.
There is a reason why the benefits of no longer use toe clips and straps.
The technique is to come in Q2 already out of your cycling shoes and pedal with your feet on them. Therefore, the TRI bike specific shoes have a strap that picture - you reach down, loosen and coast in. You just hop on the bike cut leaving your shoes and run barefoot in Q2 / socked, drop the helmet, your bike rack and slip on your running shoes. SPD or any song are better than toe clips and straps 6% efficiency of a watch. If you average 12 MPH in footrests, it means that you can 13MPH average SPD.
At your level, use what you have been with the training - I used the iron distance SPD sprints -. My SPD are not tri-specific and have 3 straps (hey, can not really go wrong for $ 30 Pearl Izumi and at my level, 30 seconds is not very important. You save time by not wearing bike gloves and having a good presentation of material.
I like to see somebody do stilettos
Now that would be awesome.
