Bicycle pedal straps? I'm relearning how to ride and I just received March 1 Cannondale Road Warrior. I'm still a bit wobbly, and it is difficult for me to use the pedal straps. It is difficult for me to make my toes in them when I start pedaling. Suggestions? Do I still really need?
Before you begin, make sure the straps are wide open enough to easily insert your foot. A pedal position just before the top of its stroke. Put your foot in it. Push with the foot. You should have enough momentum to use your other foot toe to return the pedal and slide the foot into the clip. After you go, reach down and tighten the straps if you want. I have clips and straps on my mountain bike and just find a happy medium where I did not adjust the straps when riding.
If you have trouble inserting your other foot, it is OK to put the foot on the back of the pedal so you can continue. Flip it over and put your foot in one of the times to come around.

most riders find themselves on clipless pedals, like air. For now, they are simply bolted to the pedal, and you can delete them until you get a little more comfortable, but they help out, you get the riding more.
The only advantage is that they give you more power when you pedal, because on the back, you're lifting, and with the push you down. remove them until you are more familiar.
A bit like Curb Feelers on a motorcycle. (Antennas vacuum are extensions of elastic thread that make a scraping sound against the pavement when a person is parallel parking.)
You get used to them.
