Is there a wireless bike computer, which transmits about 32 inches? I have a Giant Revive Bicycle and standard computer cable can not be mounted on this bike. Most wireless I've seen need a maximum of 18 "to transmit faithfully. The distance between the tire and handlebars of my bike is 32". Any suggestions on what I can use??
I've never had a problem with all clients with the Cateye computers. I drive one myself and they are great. 32 "not too similar to be transmitted. Have you tried? My recommendation, if it does not work would be to get something custom-rigged up to go down on the computer chassis. I do not think that manufacturing would Inventive too hard and someone in a bike shop may be able to do so. In fact, by putting the computer on the bars could be too high for this type of guy. Maybe install the device on the basis near the headset would be better.
You have a head tube 18 ", or chopper-style handlebars? You do not put the sensor and magnet to your hub for this to work, he can get closer to the wheel and the top of the fork place.
In addition, most computers have a wireless range of at least 36 "that should meet your needs.
I do not know the "recovery" until I checked the site Giant. What a cool bike! Nearly a recumbant, but not really.
I do not know why a wired computer will only work if the wire is not long enough. If you know someone who has the slightest idea of electronics, you may be able to convince them to simply extend the wire splicing in a new section. Make sure they solder and heat shrink tubing to protect the connections from the elements. This is certainly the surest way.
Another alternative is a GPS unit. Garmin is those who are relatively cheap. They make a specific model of bike, but you do not need to go as high end. Buy one of the most expensive with a bike mount. This is not the cheapest way to go, but it's easy. The GPS will keep track of all your data speed and distance, and altitude, without snesor getting on the wheel. Not only that, but without wheel sensor you do not need to calibrate the computer to the wheel size. You can actually have a problem on some computers with this small front wheel, they might not be able to fix it sufficiently small diameter.
