Bicycle Ball Bearings

Bicycle Ball BearingsWhat type of fat that I have a bike chain and ball bearings?

I have a simple bike speed range crusier that I am repairing. I cleaned the ball and chain but must be re-grease and do not know what to use.

I would say the teflon based grease for bearings. There are several brands - White Lightning, Dupont etc. Tri-flow oil from the finish line is great for strings. It is sold in small bottles - Real Stuff toxic that will eat into your hands, but keeps the chain of Nice and smooth for many miles. The key to all the fat to work - the pieces must be very clean before applying.

You can use the grease for ball bearings, I saw it recommended "Phil Wood grease.

Do not grease your chain or you lubricated bearings.

I prefer a wax lubrication according to my chain, over time lubricating oil tend to collect dirt. I use White Lightening.

If you need a help site for maintenance items, you can use it:

Use a fat white for repacking bearings and hubs use a Teflon based chain lubricant chain. You can use the fat, but it will attract lots of dust and it will not penetrate the chain areas of contact on the plate. WD40 is more of a bleeding (mainly kerosene base), and if it has some lubricating properties, they do not last very long.

Do not use WD40! go to a bike shop and buy some real grease made for bikes. I use Finish Line Synthetic Grease on my ball and chain I'm after a big cleaning. I use wax Krytex lubricant on the chain regularly. one bottle of each rack up about $ 6 or more. and they last a long time

Chain wax or WD-40 for the chain and almost all the fat is running very well.

Any kind of oil or grease be done without devastating consequences. You'll have to go to the bike shop to buy the best stuff, why not just ask them.

No WD-40! If you only want to lubricate your chain once (it is a beach cruiser, after all) to find a lubricant called Phil Tenacious oil. This thing will last through a monsoon (and get very dirty, but who cares, it's only one speed.)
