If you were born between 1930 and 1979 read this message cool? CONGRATULATIONS To all the children who were born in
1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and / or drank while they carried us.
They took aspirin, ate soft cheese, shellfish, and has not been tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, our baby was covered with colored paints containing lead.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.
As children, we ride in cars without seatbelts or airbags.
Riding two on your bike is a lifestyle.
We drank water from a garden hose and not from a bottle.
We shared a bottle of soft drink with four friends, all drank from a bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soft drinks with sugar, but we were not overweight because ......
We were always playing outside! NOT IN front of the television and video games!
We left the house in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlight came on.
Nobody could reach us all day. And we were OK
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then down the hill, only to discover that we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video, no surround sound, no cell phones, no text messaging, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms .......... WE were friends and we went outside and found them!
We ran into trees, I cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
We played with worms and pies made of earth and worms did not live in us forever.
The boys were given toy guns for their birthdays 10
consisting of games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we do not have eyes for each choice.
We rode bikes or walk to a friend's house and knocked on the door or ringing the bell or just yelled for them!
The local team had Tryouts and not everybody in. Those who have not had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!
The idea of a parent bailing us if we broke the law was unprecedented. In fact, they face the law!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solving and inventors ever!
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned
HOWTO
DEAL WITH IT ALL!
And you're one of them!
CONGRATULATIONS!
You may want to share with others who have had the chance to grow up as kids, before lawyers and government regulated our lives for our own good.
And while you're at it, forward it to anyone born after 1980 to see how brave you are!
Type of makes you want to run into the house with scissors, no? "
Wonderfully written ... very entertaining. I totally agree that you w /. My husband and I discuss all the time and it saddens us to have to be protective of our children outside.
