Is there a helmet for adults out there who does not look ridiculous? The ones I tried on were so huge and heavy --- I get a headache from them and I feel ridiculous. After many close calls with drivers on cell phones Spacey or drugs, I learned where I'm not going to cycle until I get a helmet. Thus, any brand name and model # 's that you could suggest would be greatly appreciated.
Personally, I think people do not wear bike helmets look like idiots.
If you've only tried the helmets of places like Wal-Mart or Target, they are quite heavy and uncomfortable, in my experience (had to buy a helmet in a rural area of the site when I forgot mine - it was all that was available).
If you go to a bike shop or a place like REI, you can buy a decent headset under $ 50 and a nice helmet for less than $ 100. Giro and Bell are the two biggest companies (in fact, is the same company now). Specialized helmets made of Nice as well, and some other companies, too.
I recommend buying one to one place, you can try. Different brands different form. Some leaders adapt better round, others oval shaped heads best. Some come in different sizes, some are universal with a ratchet at the back to tighten or loosen. If you have headaches, you may be wearing a helmet that was too tight or pinch was somewhere where he was both too heavy and too. Occasionally my helmet will pinch a bit during the race, I think my head is swelling a bit, or something. I uncheck the ratchet in the back a notch and it is very good.
Try on lots of helmets. You just have to be able to feel it. I have three helmets at this time. A cost of about $ 30, a transfer for commuting. A cost of $ 100, an Aurora Specialty - sometimes it hurts a bit if I did not fix that, but it is pink, so I wear it. And cost about $ 135, a scan of Bell, I got it on sale and have never really focused - a replacement for when I need to replace one another. All are comfortable, but surprisingly, the $ 30 is the most comfortable.
NO
You could get a bike helmet girl. It has flowers on it.
Its more important to protect your head as to look good.

Protecting the brain bucket, Sara.
It is a really funny question. To the best of my knowledge, they all look a bit weird, but if you have an older you may be surprised how much lighter and smaller than they received in the last 10-15 years.
Finally, I wish to stress that they do not look nearly as ridiculous as people who went into a coma, or para-or tetraplegic for the simple fact that they were not wearing helmets because You know, they look ridiculous. I hope that this would make you the idea of being ridiculous, but maybe not.
Just SpongeBob, and the Power Rangers ..
Go to a bike shop (a real bike shop, not Wal-Mart or something like that) and check what they have ... The new bike helmets are fairly smooth and depending on how much you're willing to spend can be very strong looking ....
bike isn't to make a fashion statement. we get a system with adjustable as RocLock. I have a Giro Havoc, which has 27 vents and is located just look cool enough for my ugly azz. last thing im thinking of attacks over roots and rocks at 30 + mph is how I want.
All bicycle helmets ridiculous, I think you need to acquire a taste for them, but as someone said go to a bike shop and buy a good helmet there.
They have a line of helmets better than a big store and you'll see that many of today's helmets are adjustable size wise.
If vendors are good they make sure the helmet fits properly you and show you the proper way to wear.
